Viking Girls Basketball Club Competitive Academy Grades 5 and 6

Description:

Let's take our talent, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for basketball to the next level! Players will continue to learn the basics of the game, understand team support settings and develop fundamental skills while preparing for play against other teams. Basic Offenses/Defenses will be taught and girls will begin to understand the bigger concepts of the game including terminology and flow of a game. This program intends to develop our future North Branch Viking Girls Team and focuses on creating a community of supportive families who want to travel with their players for competitive purposes. Players and coaches will be supported by the Viking Girls Basketball Club as well as NBHS girls players and coaches. Mandatory Parent/Player orientation on November 13, 8-10am at North Branch Area High School, North Gym, please enter in door #11. Deadline to register November 17.

Tournaments:

Up to six tournaments will be offered at this level depending on feedback and interest of the team. (Please note that tournaments will charge a general admission fee per spectator.)

Weekly practices will be communicated and set by coaches. A team uniform will be included in fee and purchased every 2 years (5th and 7th grades).

Parent Coaches Needed:

Head and Assistant Coaches are needed and will be supported by Viking Girls Basketball Club in setting up practices, tournaments and details of coaching for this level. One head coach and assistant coach will have a player fee of $80 reimbursed at the end of the season (according to expectations outlined in bylaws by VGBC).
